Slogging through the muck and mire of internet marketing

30 Day ChallengeWow, it’s been a long time since I have written. I know I get a few people popping in here now and then. I’ve had a lot of home and family things to keep me busy, so I haven’t had much time for online working.

Anyway, it time again for the 30 Day Challenge. For those who don’t know, the 30 Day Challenge is a free one month online training camp to teach you how to make money online.

The 30 Day Challenge is headed up by Ed Dale and Dan Raine. If there were ever saints in the internet marketing world, these guys would be them. They don’t charge anything. There is no pitching. It’s their way of giving back. They make millions online and they want to show others that it’s possible for anyone to have an online business.

Whether you are new to internet marketing, or you already have an online business that needs some direction or a kickstart, this is the place to go.

The 30 Day Challenge is FREE and it starts today, August 1. Check it out!

Not Posting Is A Good Thing

I guess it’s like, no news is good news.

TypingIt seems to me that the guys in this business who write a ton on their blogs are the ones who have sort of “made it.” They have the time to write a lot because most of their stuff is tuned and making money on autopilot, at least for the most part.

So anyway instead of writing here, with what little time I have, I tend to my niches, building links, and learning how to do all this stuff. The best thing that happened recently was my first $100 day. It was actually over $143 with two sales from the same affiliate program. All natural Google traffic. Really made my day. Now if I could double that on a daily basis, I could kill my day job.

I have recently got some cool software and scripts and when I get some time I’ll write some reviews. At some point I’m also going to make a “toolbox” page to list all the tools I use (and would like to use).

It’s taken me a while to get back into it after the holidays.

QassiaSo here is a new web 2.0 site called Qassia. This one is based on the idea of “the more you contribute, the more you get.” That sounds fair. You post articles, snippets, information, etc. sort of like a public blog. The more you post, the more exposure you get. You can add your websites, and get unlimited quality backlinks. There is no need to pay, or to link back to Qassia. Websites are processed instantly and ranked by the amount of credits you have amassed. To earn credits, you can add intel, i.e. tidbits of intelligence. You get credit for adding your intel. The more credit you get, the better your sites will rank. This provides incentive for site owners to contribute to Qassia.

The coolest part is that if you have an adsense account and put your account number in your profile, whenever anyone sees your content and clicks an ad, you get all the money, not just part of it like most other revenue sharing sites.

Qassia is currently in private beta. That means you can sign up and view intel only if you were referred by someone who is already a member, like me! So sign up and start adding your content. By the way, when you sign up you might want to have a picture of yourself ready to upload because you might not like the default profile picture they provide, especially if you are a guy.

So, go sign up at Qassia now.

Social Bookmarking Responsibly

Search Engine JournalLike most marketers, I have been very interested in the “Web 2.0″ social bookmarking phenomenon. But I have been wary of just blanket posting links to all sites offered by services like SocialPoster and SocialMarker because they don’t all cover the same subject matter. For example, I don’t think it’s a good idea to post your new internet marketing ebook to a news or health related site. That’s why the above services have check boxes to turn off the ones you don’t want, or shouldn’t post to.

I was wondering just how to tell what each site is slanted toward before posting. So I found this great list of 125 Social Bookmarking Sites. Each entry contains a description of what the site is for or most closely related to. This was posted by Loren Baker at Search Engine Journal.

So, before going and willy-nilly posting to every site, give yourself a little education by reading Loren Baker’s list of 125 Social Bookmarking Sites.

Well the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway is in full swing. There is some great stuff being given away. One of my favorite gift givers is Ian Traynor. His stuff is the fourth one on the page. I got great stuff from him each of the last two years, and he has a great newsletter. He keeps a great download area on his site with tons of useful goodies.

Mark has organized the site a bit differently this year. Instead of having everything listed in advance and activating more links every two days, like I mentioned in the previous post, he just adds new items to the page every two days. So we don’t know in advance what is coming up.

Here are a couple tips. Be selective and get only the things you really think you can use, because being on a lot of lists can be overwhelming. Don’t sign up just to get the gift and then unsubscribe. Stay on the list for a while and see the quality of the info you get. If you don’t get much value after a while, then unsubscribe. At least give them a chance.

If you haven’t done so yet, go sign up for the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway.

12 Days of ChristmasMark Hendricks’ 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway begins December 1. This was the first giveaway event I experienced in this business, back in the holiday season of 2005. It is, in my opinion, the biggest and best of the giveaways. Mark has very high standards for the quality of the products he allows in the giveaway. He only allows the best in. I got so much great stuff from that 2005 one, I still go in and find something great to use.

Mark is one of my favorite “big kids” in internet marketing. He always answers his email and he doesn’t flood your inbox with promos every day, unlike a lot of the other guru types out there, who shall remain nameless. Anyway this is also a great chance to get on some top notch lists that you can learn a lot from. I’m still on almost all the lists I signed on to in 2005 and I’ve learned a lot.

Here’s the way it works. Mark compiles all the giveaway products into a web page detailing what they are and who is giving them away. Then beginning December 1, the first two or three on the page get their links activated. After two days, the next few are activated, and so on every two days until Christmas day. He does it this way to keep you from getting overwhelmed.

Don’t worry if you don’t get them all by Christmas, they all usually stay up until about a week after the new year. What I usually do is look through the list and decide what I want in advance, and then go get it on the day it becomes available.

Trust me, you don’t want to miss this if you are an internet marketer, especially if you are just stating out. There are LOTS of giveaways throughout the year, but I don’t do them anymore because they’re just too time (and email) consuming. But this one I would NEVER miss!

Google AssassinIt’s been nine months since Day Job Killer was released to the masses. Even after the previous success of Adwords Miracle and Affiliate Project X, author Chris McNeeny still seemed to be able to break new ground with some of the the affiliate marketing methods he revealed in Day Job Killer. I still have a profitable campaign running as a direct result of a technique in DJK.

Well, Chris is back with a follow up. It’s called Google Assassin. He says it essentially automates most of the best techniques from his previous affiliate marketing guides. It will be a monthly subscription site providing a combination of online and downloadable software and guides. He also says it’s well suited to newbies, or anyone who doesn’t like doing all the manual work. Everything, including the price, will be revealed on Tuesday, November 20 at Google Assassin.

Unblockable Popup Wordpress Plugin

maxblog.pngI finally found the plugin I was looking for. There’s all kinds of popup makers for regular web sites, but to do it for Wordpress is a bit tricky, for me anyway. The site I found is MaxBlogPress and they specialize in really useful and free Wordpress plugins. This Unblockable Popup Plugin is highly configurable. For example, you can tell it when and how much per visitor you want it to show. I’m still putting it through it’s paces, so I haven’t learned everything. This is just what I wanted to put opt-in box popups on a few of my niche blogs. Check out the free Unblockable Popup Wordpress Plugin.

Free Money = A No Brainer

No such thing as a free lunch? How about free money? Yes thank you, I’ll take that.

There’s a guy named Michael Badger who is promising to give out free money on a monthly basis for just signing up to his “pre-launch” newsletter and doing nothing else, no work, no promotion, no nothing. In 4-6 months he will be launching a pay “web-based service” that he anticipates will be very successful. “It will serve a need in the marketplace that is not currently being filled” he says.

Even though he states that you don’t need to refer people to his site to get paid, he’s still hoping everybody will. He also wants to “spread the word about internet marketing” and he thinks offering free money will make people pay attention. Sounds good, I’m all ears.

I’m sure that in the months before the launch he will be bombarding our mail boxes with promos to sign up for whatever the paid product is. WTF, I wouldn’t expect anything less of someone armed with such a potentially large opt-in list of targeted subscribers.

For me, this is a no brainer. Go check out Michael’s Free Money deal.

Mike Filsaime had a link on my Blog!

Well, sort of. I looked at my blog and there he was in my Blogrush box. I mean, I’m sure that Mike had a blog, but it never even occurred to me to look for it. As a side note, if you don’t know who Mike Filsaime is, then you are a real newbie. But stick around this business long enough and you’ll learn he is one of the biggest kids on the block when it comes to internet marketing.

Anyway, that’s one of the best things I’ve found about Blogrush. I’ve found some of the coolest blogs in the Blogrush box  on my own blog. I even have a personal (non IM) blog that I put it on and have found some other great blogs in the parenting/family category through the one I have on that blog. Great stuff.

So for me so far, it’s a big thumbs up for John Reese and his free Blogrush.
