This post is a paraphrase of a comment I made on this blog post by Mike Mosby that was criticizing people in the 30 Day Challenge for having internet marketing blogs.

Interestingly, Mike’s blog is about internet marketing, but it’s only three days old, and it’s a free blogspot blog. That was big red flag for me, but I read most of his posts, and he seems to know a fair amount, and more importantly, he can write pretty well.

In his post, he seems to be saying that none of us should have a blog about internet marketing until we’ve paid our dues by blogging about dog training and weight loss with PLR content and adsense in the sidebar for two years. Nonsense!

I don’t for one second think that I can compete with Joel Comm, Shawn Casey, or any of the other big kids in the internet marketing niche. But that’s no longer a good reason for me to avoid it.

I’ve prowled this business for almost two years and avoided the IM niche because I thought I didn’t know enough. And guess what, I probably never will. So when is a good time to start? Never?

I just started my IM blog, and I did so for two reasons. One, Bo Bang, whose forum I’m a member of recommended (back in Jan. 2006) that we all start IM blogs no matter what our experience is. If nothing else, just to chronicle your progress, share and help people who are newer than you, and mostly to get “on the job” training. And two, I found I really do know enough, and have a lot of opinions on this subject I’d like to write about.

I’m a decent writer and I may not make any money with adsense and affiliate links on this blog. But if one person emails me with a question and I can save him/her some of the money I wasted on adwords, ebooks, etc., it will be worth it.

In the end, if you’re a bad writer, or just plain don’t know what you are talking about, people will see that not bother coming back.
